Police aren't sure, and neither is whoever submitted the report, if the big cat was a bobcat or a mountain lion. Idaho Fish and Game was contacted and no one has been able to find anything yet and no other sightings have been reported.
The Kimberly/Hansen Police Department posted the alert on Facebook at 11:46 on Tuesday morning. The cat was reportedly seen on Jefferson Street in the 400 block near The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Seeing a big cat in the Kimberly/Hansen area isn't unheard of. Many confirmed reports and sighting have happened recently and it isn't only bobcats and mountain lions. Deer and Moose are known to venture down from the South Hills.
In the report, residents are reminded that they should not attempt to catch wild animals or let them inside 'because you think it might be cold'. That rule also applies to the large number of 'cougars' that seem to hang out near the high school...
