Motorcycle season is upon us in Idaho, and every year we are reminded of the importance of looking out for motorcycles as we drive. While it is the duty of people driving vehicles with 4 or more wheels to help make the roads safe, the same rule applies to motorcycles.

And this driver was not doing that, according to police reports.

Motorcyclist Arrested and Charged in Dangerous High-Speed Idaho Chase

The Idaho State Police have shared their report on a recent high-speed chase near Meridian where a motorcycle driver was caught driving at speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour on I84.

The incident happened during heavy morning traffic on July 11th.

Corporal McConnell was patrolling eastbound on I-84 near milepost 45 in Ada County when he observed a red 2007 Yamaha YZFR6 traveling westbound at an extremely high rate of speed.

The rider was weaving through congested traffic without signaling and maneuvering through dangerously narrow gaps between vehicles.

The actions of the motorcycle driver were unsafe. The officer noted the danger and began following the motorcycle. The bike was reportedly going between 110 and 115 miles per hour while ‘aggressively changing lanes and violating multiple traffic laws.’

The driver initially failed to yield to the police siren and lights at mile marker 42.5 but eventually pulled over near mile marker 41.

This is only one of many recent high-speed motorcycle chases in Idaho. A teen crashed a bike after going 50 MPH over the speed limit, and another biker was arrested after two incidents. But the most recent arrest wasn’t even close to being the highest-speed motorcycle incident this year. Read about that incident below.
