Two Fatal Accidents Reported in Southeast Idaho

Police in Idaho have reported three fatal vehicle highway accidents this week. The first happened on Tuesday, and the other two happened last night and this morning. All three fatal accidents happened in southeast Idaho, and they all happened on Interstate 15. Four deaths were reported in the three accidents.

Three Fatal Accidents Reported in Southeast Idaho

We reported on the Tuesday accident near Fort Hall earlier this week, and you can read the details on that fatal crash below. The most recent fatal accidents in Idaho happened Thursday evening, north of Spencer near the Montana border, and another in Pocatello on Friday morning. Details on all three accidents can be found below.

Fatal Single-Vehicle Accident Near the Idaho/Montana Border

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal accident on Interstate 15 at mile marker 183, north of Spencer in Southeast Idaho. The accident happened a few minutes after 5 PM on October 23rd.

The ISP report states:

A white 1996 Dodge van, driven by a 77-year-old female and 76-year-old male passenger from Lethbridge, Canada, were driving southbound on I15. The van drove off the left side of the road and came to rest in the northbound left lane.

The female driver was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to a local hospital. The male passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the accident.

ISP Responds to Fatal Accident in Pocatello

A single-vehicle crash on Friday morning turned fatal after a vehicle struck a guardrail and an overpass pillar on Interstate 15 in Pocatello. The accident happened at 2 AM at mile marker 70.

In the police report it states:

a 47-year-old male from Pocatello was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 driving a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000 GT. The driver veered to the right, hit the guardrail and went over it and striking the Monte Vista overpass pillar.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt but passed away after being transported to a local hospital.

The accidents are being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
