
This ID, UT, WA Age Group Most At Risk For July 4th ER Trips
As you've probably noticed, Fourth of July celebrations have already begun across Idaho. Every year Americans are injured badly by fireworks, but one age group will be visiting the emergency room more than others this weekend.
July fireworks injuries are a real problem in the United States. Thousands of people are hospitalized every year about this time for a variety of injuries associated with the country's Independence Day celebrations.
Twin Falls fire personnel, as well as emergency room nurses and doctors, will be standing by ready to treat area residents who mishandle fireworks over the next three to four days.
Burn injuries to the ears, face, and hands are the most common types treated during the Fourth of July.

The Age Group Most At Risk For 4th of July Injuries in America
According to the United States Consumer Product Commission (USCPC), close to 15,000 Americans will be treated by ER doctors between July 3 and 5. There will also be a few U.S. fatalities associated with Independence Day gatherings.

Adults, ages 25 to 44, will account for the most fireworks injuries in the U.S., according to the USCPC data. Alcohol is undoubtedly a key factor in this reality. Teens account for less than 15% of ER visits over the holiday.
The USCPC recommends NOT allowing kids to handle fireworks, having a water source such as a hose nearby when lighting off fireworks, and checking city rules and ordinances pertaining to times prior to gatherings to avoid potential problems.
