Idaho, Montana Scenery Made ‘A River Runs Through It’ Film Great
If you've never seen it, then you have no idea how incredibly well done a 1992 movie about two brothers was. Brad Pitt was the face of the film, which was as good as a movie could get, and the filming locations used in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming are a big reason why people still love it more than 30 years later.
A River Runs Through It was released on October 9, 1992. Religion, family, and fly fishing are the three themes that stand out in the motion picture. My mother and her husband ran a fly fishing store from about 1991 to 1994, and I worked the cash register part-time straight out of high school. I also learned a great deal about the hobby during this period of my life, but never really took to it.
It's these rivers that made the film truly great.
It's one of those movies that when it gets brought up in conversation, everyone agrees on how incredible it is, or at least that's been my experience. Robert Redford dreamed up the film and directed it. Second Unit Director Paul Ryan published a blog years back where he mentioned the filming took place on three rivers in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
Bozeman (MT), Livingston (MT), and Granite Falls (WY) were featured heavily in the movie, according to IMDB. The incredible fly fishing sequences were captured on the Clark Fork River, Kootenai River, and Gallatin River, according to the Internet. It's these rivers that made the film truly great.
