Getting a driver's license is one of the most freeing and autonomous privileges humans have ever been bestowed. A new driver's maturity is front and center and can be blatantly obvious to others sharing the roadway, and a recent Magic Valley social media chain questioned whether or not local police should be focusing more on teenagers behind the wheel.

I remember getting my driver's license in high school, heading into my junior year. I don't recall being terribly immature at 16, but I will say I took unnecessary risks and maybe showed off a bit too much to my fellow teenage passengers. I was deathly afraid of getting ticketed because my father used to remind me constantly about his perfect record behind the wheel.

An interesting topic was recently brought up on a southern Idaho rants / raves page from a local, and had to do with "entitled," young drivers and their awful habits, namely, parking at area shopping centers.

My first citation was for illegally passing another automobile, and I did rack up a few parking tickets in my first couple of years legally operating a motor vehicle, but these were more for meter violations rather than just parking like a jackass.

An interesting topic was recently brought up late Wednesday evening on a southern Idaho rants / raves page from a local with the initials "MR," and had to do with "entitled," young drivers and their awful habits, namely, parking at area shopping centers. This individual went on to ask if local police are patrolling private and public lots enough. There was also a mild backlash from others on the chain about cutting young drivers some slack.

I will say that bad parkers come in all ages. I tend to park further away from stores so that I don't run the risk of my truck getting dinged up.

Should more be done as far as drivers' terrible parking habits in southern Idaho shopping centers and private lots?
