Magic Valley ID Locals Sound Off On Lack Of Motorcycle Awareness
Motorists put their lives on the line every time they leave a driveway. For those on motorcycles, safety concern is increased due to the rider being much more exposed and less protected should a collision of some kind happen. It seems some Magic Valley residents are not happy with the way locals are driving when it comes to safely sharing the road with those on two wheels.
Do Magic Valley drivers really miss the mark that badly when it comes to being aware and respectful of motorcyclists?
I used to take Blue Lakes Boulevard to work every day. Some of the things I'd see people do behind the wheels of their cars were truly shocking. Blowing through red lights, riding bumpers, going 20 miles over the speed limit, and not paying attention to pedestrians were some of the biggest offenders.
Distractions continue to be the main problem when it comes to traffic accidents. We have people live-streaming from behind the wheel these days, which is an insane thing to do when you are controlling a 4,000-pound vehicle and traveling over 35 miles an hour.
I recently came across a post on a southern Idaho Rants / Raves website that dealt with the topic of drivers not paying attention to motorcyclists. The lady who shared her thoughts was mentioning how she had a friend who was nearly killed because of a driver's lack of awareness. Of course, these problems happen all over the world, but the number of locals who added supportive thoughts to the feed was eye-opening.
