It's been nearly a week since Republican activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated with a single bullet to the carotid artery while addressing students in Utah.

There have been many tributes to the slain author, media personality, father, and husband from Illinois in the past week, including flags hung at half-staff nationwide under the order of President Donald Trump.

American sports have taken notice of the tragedy as well, and most have dedicated moments of silence in honor of Kirk, with the exception of a few franchises.

Charlie Kirk had his life taken from him at approximately 12:23 P.M., on September 10, 2025, while speaking to thousands of faculty, students, and supporters who traveled from afar to hear him in person. Regardless of how you feel about the man, his two children will never truly know their dad, which is heartbreaking.

This past weekend, the National Football League paid tribute to Kirk by asking fans in the stands to observe a moment of silence before the start of the games. A handful of team owners decided the tribute wasn't worth the interruption, according to details shared by the Daily Mail.

The organizations that did not plan a tribute or ask stadium announcers to pause for the cause were the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah native who allegedly admitted to the crime online shortly after the killing of Kirk. His DNA has also reportedly been linked to the crime scene, according to Reuters.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
