Southern Idaho Labor Day Preheat Underway; Triple-Digits Return

As many in southern Idaho prepare to enjoy the extended Labor Day weekend, temperatures are going to steadily climb through the weekend. Triple-digit weather will return to the Magic Valley as the region will feel at least one more heatwave for the year.

The northwestern United States has some seriously warm weather coming for the Labor Day weekend and into early next week. Potentially record-breaking temperatures like the ones the region experienced back in July could repeat, particularly for California where heat is predicted to reach 110 degrees in some central cities for the holiday on Monday. Excessive heat warnings have been issued for multiple western states, and blackouts due to the warm weather have been predicted.

As for Twin Falls, the hottest days will likely be Sunday, Monday (Labor Day), and Tuesday, according to current weather.com numbers. The Magic Valley will see temperatures ranging from 100 to 102 degrees by Tuesday.

Current weather data suggests the upcoming heatwave could be the last one for the region this year, as highs will dip into the upper seventies by Friday, September 9.

If you are able to get near water this weekend, it would be a wise move. Expect to see many Idahoans out on the Snake River boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and finding other ways to stay wet. Drink plenty of fluids and seek shade in the coming days if you plan to be outdoors. Make sure your pets are taken care of too.
