A recent film about the life of Elvis Presley has resulted in a worldwide resurgence of music downloads and a general interest in the life of "The King." In all his years of touring the country, the states of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana all share an unfortunate link when it comes to the famous musician's legacy.

I had a chance this week to see the new film, "Elvis," which was directed by Baz Luhrmann. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Presley's manager and promoter Colonel Tom Parker, as well as newcomer Austin Butler in the role of Elvis.

I enjoyed the movie very much, despite some negative press by some film critics. I researched the accuracy of the motion picture and found out that indeed Hollywood skewed certain truths regarding Elvis' life. For instance, he never had a complete meltdown on a Las Vegas stage during a performance where he called out Parker as a crook, which is portrayed in the movie.

Elvis' former wife, Priscilla Presley, saw the movie and had nothing but positive things to say about it. So, fans of Presley who wonder how accurate the film is should trust the adaptation as being mostly spot on.

Elvis performed his final concert in 1977, which was televised on CBS. There are nine states Presley never performed in while actively touring between 1954 and 1976. Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, New Jersey, Alaska, Delaware, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Vermont make up that sad list for fans that never got a chance to see him in their home states, according to an online Presley resource.

Elvis never played to fans in the Gem State, which is why his 1966 song, "I'll Remember You," cannot apply to Idaho.
