Why Is It Italian Restaurants Can’t Stay Open In Twin Falls ID?
Options for Italian food in the Magic Valley have been slowly vanishing over the past couple of years. Nowadays, if you Google "Italian restaurants in Twin Falls," you'll find a short list of eateries, with most of them being delis and locations that aren't known for southern European-style cuisine.
Elevation 486, Slice, Pizza Pie Cafe, McAlister's Deli, and Applebee's all came up on local searches for Italian, and these eateries are just fine, but the menus aren't exclusively Italian.
I was on the hunt over the weekend for a decent plate of pasta. I quickly realized after researching local spots online, that Twin Falls options could be a bit more expanded. This isn't saying anything bad about places like The Olive Garden and Papa Kelsey's, but the city is starving for more places to "break bread" (garlic) with family and friends.
Are Twin Falls residents boycotting carbohydrates? What's the deal with these restaurants not surviving here?

The most recent Italian dining spot to close its doors in Twin Falls was Johnny Carino's back in January. This came as quite a New Year's surprise to locals, and now the closest location is a two-hour drive northwest near Boise. Prior to that closure, Tomato's Italian Grill on Blue Lakes Boulevard got the rug pulled out from under them; a family friend still gripes over the fact he can longer get their Bacon Spezie dish.

I long for a restaurant that looks, sounds, and smells like Italy. Maybe the old Johnny Carino's location will eventually yield another option for great pasta, lasagna, and other southern European staples.
