Southern Idaho wildlife managers have removed the last few bighorn sheep from the South Hills area to protect other populations from disease.

A federal court has blocked thousands of domestic sheep from being released to graze in eastern Idaho where environmental groups say they jeopardize a small herd of bighorn sheep with deadly viruses.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada wildlife officials are waiting anxiously to see if their decision to slaughter a diseased herd of bighorn sheep earlier this year paid off in saving a neighboring herd near the Idaho line.
