A 30-year-old southern Idaho man will serve life in prison for shooting a Jerome police officer during a February chase. Christopher Mark Taylor was sentenced Monday in 5th District Court.

It will be awhile longer before a Nevada man will find out if he faces the death penalty after a shooting and hostage drama that played out at a Twin Falls hotel earlier this year.

A Jerome man faces up to 40 years in prison for several charges including shooting a Jerome police officer.  30 year old Christopher Taylor appeared in 5th District Court in Jerome County this week on charges of felony aggravated battery on a police officer with a weapons enhancement.

The man who police say was responsible for a chase, shootout, and hostage situation last Friday in Twin Falls, has been arraigned in a Twin Falls County courtroom.

A preliminary hearing was held in Jerome County yesterday for a man who’s been charged with several felonies and is accused of wounding a Jerome city police officer.
