Fire officials say the Sharps Fire, which so far has burned nearly 65,000 acres east of Bellevue, likely be active today as the blaze continues moving up the Little Wood River toward Swede Peak.
The Blaine County Sheriff's Office has launched a criminal investigation into the person or people responsible for starting a wildfire burning east of Bellevue.
The Bureau of Land Management says the Sharps Fire was caused by someone shooting at an exploding target. The latest fire size estimate is about 27,000 acres and is burning to the northeast. BLM says more than 142,000 gallons of water and retardant has been dropped on the blaze
