Parents across Idaho will now play a role in whether or not their child's teacher gets a raise. Teacher bonuses in more than two dozen school districts will depend to some degree on how well they can  engage parents, as part of new education changes that were signed into law this year.

Most schools in the Magic Valley have their first day with students today and that means there will be a lot of children on the streets headed for class.  Local police agencies remind you to watch out for kids on their way to and from school and to pay special attention to the speed limits in the school zones.

Idaho's largest school district is preparing to cut a hundred teaching positions. The meridian school district is trying to cut their budget by $21.9 million for next year. Among other things, the district will be cutting teaching staff for the first time in 13 years.
