Heavy winds and an increasing chance for snowfall for the next 24 hours are forecasted for certain areas of southern Idaho. Another weather system is due to sweep through the southern portion of the Gem State early next week as well.

High winds created low visibility by blowing dust across southern Idaho causing several accidents and forced the closure of a stretch of interstate.

A Canadian truck driver had to be taken to the hospital after strong winds blew his semi-trailer over on an Idaho interstate Saturday.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from noon today until 9 p.m. Friday for much of the eastern part of the Magic Valley in the Mini-Cassia area to the east.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the eastern part of the Magic Valley that includes Cassia, Minidoka and parts of Lincoln County.

A mixed bag of weather is expected this Thursday in southern Idaho, including high winds. The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a High Wind Watch for the Magic Valley

The Idaho State Police along with Jerome and Minidoka County deputies worked into the late evening Wednesday clearing wreckage from Interstate 84.  There were a total of 18 vehicles involved in crashes over a seven mile stretch of the interstate near Paul.  A storm front with high winds moved through that area shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon churning up dust from freshly tilled fields
