Contrary to what people may think, a snowplow is not like a bus with its stop sign out. You are allowed to pass one if you come up behind one but do so cautiously.

As Idaho enters into the winter season the roads will worsen and people new to the state will need to adjust as some have never driven on snow or ice before.

The Idaho Transportation Department has upgraded its traveler information site to check road conditions – just in time for winter.

A winter weather advisory is in effect in south-central Idaho and parts of eastern Idaho from 6 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the Pocatello office of the National Weather Service.

In an effort to help keep people safe on the roads during the cold months, the Idaho Transportation Department has launched its annual winter safety campaign.

STATE LINE (KLIX) – Part of Interstate 84 has been shut down due to snow drifts and low visibility, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.

UPDATE, 4:20 p.m.: The westbound lanes of Interstate 84 between Pendleton and Ontario are now open, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
