Twins Outfielder Torii Hunter Gets Ejected and Goes Crazy After Strikeout [VIDEO]
Veteran Minnesota Twins outfielder Torii Hunter has always been one of the more mild-mannered ballplayers in Major League Baseball. It's a rare sight to see him argue a call with an umpire or get into a dispute on the field.
Maybe that is why it was so surprising when he lost his mind after arguing a called third strike in the eighth inning against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. The Twins were already losing 7-2, so the 39-year old did not have too much to lose when he confronted home plate umpire Mark Ripperger after the call. What nobody expected was a temper tantrum by Hunter, featuring his batting gloves and later his game worn jersey being tossed on the field after he was ejected.
Twins manager Paul Molitor was also tossed out of the game by Ripperger for arguing the call, but nothing could compare to the spectacular meltdown displayed by Hunter. Expect a suspension to be handed down by Major League Baseball in the next few days.
