Did you know that one in three hundred people in Idaho have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis? Those are scary numbers. This week, it's time to dress in orange from head to toe, break out your BSU stuff, for MS Awareness Week.

The photo above is a flag display of 2,000 orange flags in Meridian, Idaho. You can't see it in the photo, but in the center is one white flag to represent the 1 in 300 people in Idaho who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

All this week, Idahoans are encouraged to wear orange in support of MS Awareness Week.

"Too many people do not know that the MS Society has a chapter in Utah and Southern Idaho to help people and their families manage MS and the many ways it changes a person’s life,” said Becky Lyttle, chapter vice president of community development. “Our awareness week activities are designed to ensure that the public learns about MS. We hope that people will take action to help spread awareness by taking a photo of the flags and sharing their connection to MS on social media.”

This week's awareness activities will also highlight an upcoming Walk MS fundraising event in Boise on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Proceeds will support cutting-edge MS research and programs and services for people living with MS.

About Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide.

The Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter is based in Salt Lake City, but has an office in Boise, Idaho. If you'd like to find out more visit their website.
