‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Series: CBS Passes, Others Interested?

Beverly Hills Cop TV Series Pass

Well, this is certainly not an article we expected to be writing. It appears among the dozens of cancellations and renewals emerging today from NBC, CBS and ABC, one very promising pilot has slipped through the cracks. CBS will not move forward with the Eddie Murphy-produced ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ TV series, but will another network pick up their loss?

Produced by acclaimed talent Shawn Ryan, CBS ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series had previously considered all but a lock for series pickup, before the network officially passed on the reboot this afternoon. Given the incredible talent involved with the series and franchise potential, Sony and Paramount are said to be shopping the project to other networks.

In addition to the announced returns of Judge Reinhold’s Billy Rosewood and Eddie Murphy himself, the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV pilot focused Axel Foley’s son Aaron Foley (Brandon T. Jackson) working to “take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous, while simultaneously trying to escape the shadow of his larger than life father.” Rounding out the cast was ‘The Office‘ star David Denman as the younger Foley’s partner, ‘Argo‘ star Sheila Vand as a fellow officer, Christine Lahti as the captain, and comedian Kevin Pollak playing the role of the department’s in-house lawyer.

Hopefully someone picks up where CBS left off, but what say you? Has the network made a huge mistake in passing on a ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series?
