A storm system is moving in to southwest Idaho that will bring showers and numerous thunderstorms through late tonight. Storms are expected to produce rain, wind gusts up to 50 mph, abundant lightning, and create explosive fire growth potential.
Both lanes of westbound Interstate 84 are now open. Motorists are still encouraged to avoid travel throughout the majority of the Magic Valley until the winter weather conditions improve. The winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Magic Valley area...
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 2pm for the Magic Valley. Snow overnight has turned to ice with freezing rain creating treacherous driving conditions. Many Magic Valley schools have been cancelled.
The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Gooding County in south central Idaho, northwestern Jerome County, Twin Falls County, southeastern Elmore County, and south central Camas County until 6:30 pm.
