Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Authorities have spotted a body along the Snake River about a mile west of the Hansen bridge. Jerome Sheriff Doug McFall said that both the Jerome and Twin Falls Sheriff Deputies are on the scene along with members of the Jerome and Twin Falls Search and rescue.

They are currently working to recover the body that was spotted Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff McFall said he and Helicopter owner/pilot Scott Jackson had landed a group of deputies into the canyon where they were searching on foot.

Sheriff McFall said he thought he may have smelled a distinct odor that led him to believe they were in the area of a body. When he returned to the air with the helicopter, they spotted the body in the area described as north of the pillars in an area known by those who float the river as “let’s make a deal” which is west of the Hansen Bridge. Wednesday the water in the river was very low which assisted the search efforts.

Authorities presume it’s the body of the missing fisherman that fell into the water Sunday June 30, 2014.

Authorities have been searching for Troy Baynes, 46 of Murtaugh. He and another man became stranded in the Canyon just west of the Hansen Bridge.
