BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Two condors in Boise will serve as foster parents for a newly hatched chick transported from a Portland zoo.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the Oregon Zoo sent an unhatched condor egg to the Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey earlier this month. The two condors that had produced the egg in Oregon were not incubating it, forcing the zoo to find a new home.

Marti Jenkins, condor-breeding specialist with The Peregrine Fund, says the condors have been attentive to the recently hatched chick.
