(KLIX)-June 4 2012 may be a day many in Twin Falls will not forget, especially city officials. That’s the day the power went out to the Blue Lakes Pumps that supply 80 percent of water to the city. A wind storm disabled lines to the 4 pumps for more than ten hours. That left crews scrambling to find alternate power sources. Public Works Director Jon Caton said they used one of the city’s generators to hook up to the pumps. Last night at the City Council meeting Caton submitted a recommendation to purchase a backup a back up generator to power the Blue Lakes pumps if power is ever to be lost again. The backup generator will cost $150,000. City council approved using reserve water funds to make the purchase.
