Commentary: Amazing Grace

I recall when the 9-11 Commission Report was released that conservative activist Alan Keyes was appalled.  He told me Condoleezza Rice was an incompetent and asleep at the wheel when the terrible day came, however.  He wouldn’t criticize her because he feared he would give ammunition to John Kerry for the 2004 campaign.  Later that same year Keyes was drafted to run for U.S. Senate against a young Democrat named Barack Obama.  The White House barely lifted a hand in support of Keyes.

I really wish he had expressed his views on Rice and the Bush team.  Keyes was getting labeled as a nut case and yet he appeared the very same year to be the sanest of all Republicans.

My estimation of Rice never improved.  Or until now.  She was an incompetent as a diplomat and strategist but the woman is accomplished in other areas.  She figure skates very well and is a talented musician.  As you can see here she can also touch a chord.
