BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A group of southwest Idaho residents have opened a small creation museum in Boise they hope to expand to as much as 450,000 square feet.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the Northwest Science Museum opened Saturday with what organizers are calling a "Vision Center." Organizers say the goal of museum is to present biblical stories from the book of Genesis as a literal telling of the world's origin. Doug Bennett is the museum's executive director.

He says the museum will show science that's being censored and not presented to the public. He says a main goal of the museum will be to counter "mainstream science" with exhibits about Earth as created by God in six days about 6,000 years ago. Scientists say the Earth is billions of years old.
