Effort to Recall Filer Government Fails

Filer, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A controversial petition to recall local city leaders in Filer is dead.

A group wanting to recall Mayor Rick Dunn and all four City Council members had 75 days to collect 201 signatures for each city leader. However, the group did not get the necessary names.

Many in Filer were unhappy with the way the City Council and mayor handled the situation after Officer Tarek Hassani shot and killed a man's dog. The story drew nationwide attention. The deadline for the petition was five o’clock Monday, but the city says they did not receive anything.
