ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A man suspected if abusing his horse has been arrested by Elko County deputies.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports that the man was seen dragging a horse behind his truck. Undersheriff Clair Morris says by the time deputies were able to contact the horse's owner, it was already back in its enclosure. Deputies wanted the animal checked out so they transported it to a veterinarian's office. Morris says the horse suffered a fractured neck and other injuries.

It was bleeding from the mouth and nose and had marks where it had been dragged. Deputies the horse was dragged about 330 feet along a gravel road. The owner was booked on charges including animal cruelty. The horse is still at the veterinarian's office and it is believed it will make a full recovery.
