Family Want Idaho Murderer to Stay in Prison

GRANGEVILLE, Idaho (AP) — Family members of a Texas couple murdered in northern Idaho have started a letter-writing campaign protesting the proposed parole of a man convicted of the killings.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that the brothers and sisters-in-law of Robert and Cheryl Bravence of El Paso, Texas, started writing the letters after the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole earlier this month granted the release of 55-year-old Bryan S. Lankford in October 2018.

The commission is meeting again in January. Lankford and his older brother, Mark Lankford, were convicted of the 1983 beating deaths. Mark Lankford is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole. Kerry Lehto is the younger brother of Cheryl Bravence. He says Bryan Lankford is a violent criminal and asks why someone like that should be freed.
