ELKO, Nev. (AP) —A Magic Valley town and a Nevada county each have additional firefighting apparatus in their fleet, thanks to the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada.

The BLM's district office in Elko transferred two 900-gallon wildlife fire engines to the Nevada county and Gooding, Idaho just in time for the upcoming fire seasons. Once an engine has so many hours on it, the BLM sells the equipment at a reduced rate to local fire departments.

Local officials say the trucks will increase the safety of firefighters and their communities. Fire officials in Gooding say the 2002 Freightliner purchased through the BLM will replace a 1986 model.
