NORTH LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The victim of a Utah hot tub drowning has been identified as a 3-year-old Idaho boy. Police say Carter Bassett of Weston, Idaho, was found floating face down and unresponsive in the hot tub Friday night at the Four Seasons in North Logan. They say the boy's parents, Dixie and Brendon Bassett, were attending a nearby wedding reception when the child somehow entered the gated hot tub area and fell into the water. A bystander found him unconscious, and the boy was rushed to Logan Regional Hospital, where he died. Police say they're unsure how he got into the secured hot tub area, but there was no negligence in the death. They're also unsure how long he was in the water before he was found.
