Idaho Couple Potentially Save Cyclist From Grizzly (WATCH)
They may look cute and cuddly, but the grizzly bear is an apex predator.
the Idahoans and others along the highway were able to distract the bear
An Idaho couple got a close-up view of a potentially hungry bear while vacationing in Alberta. The young grizzly hopped some guardrails and took an interest in an oncoming bicyclist. As detailed by a Canadian cycling magazine, the Idahoans and others along the highway were able to distract the bear and likely gained the gratitude of the guy huffing and puffing on the bike.
A fully grown grizzly bear can reach a top speed of 30 miles an hour according to a nature show I watched a few years ago. You could possibly do the same going downhill on a bike but uphill might leave you at a disadvantage.
