Idaho Snowpack Looking Good

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Officials say the mountains in northern and central Idaho are well above average snowpack levels for this time of year. The Lewiston Tribune reports that mountains in the Idaho Panhandle have a snowpack that's 143 percent of average.The Big Wood basin near Sun Valley in central Idaho is at 158 percent, while the Big Lost basin has a snowpack measuring 193 percent.

Hydrologist Ron Abramovich with the Natural Resource Conservation Service at Boise says December has been a good month with some pockets in central Idaho near record highs.He says lower elevations have received mostly rain but that's not bad because that has helped saturate the ground left dry from last summer's drought.
