ITD: Public Invited to Open House on U.S. 93 Proposals

JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)  – The Idaho Transportation Department will hold an open house on Wednesday about proposed changes to U.S. Highway 93 near the 200 South Road intersection.

ITD representatives will be at the event, scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the region office of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, and the public will be able to learn and ask questions about the proposed changes.

You'll be able to see project designs and illustrations on the proposal that includes expansion of the roadway to include two northbound and two southbound lanes, widened shoulders, and left- and right-turn bays at 200 South.

The preliminary design will follow concepts outlined in the 2008 Environmental Assessment for U.S. 93 between Interstate 84 and Idaho 25, according to an ITD news release. The project will address safety at the intersection and be part of corridor improvements to meet current and future needs for roadway capacity, commercial and private access, and increasing traffic volumes.

Construction is tentatively planned to start in fall 2018, according to ITD, beginning with changes to the irrigation systems and followed by roadway work in 2019.
