JEROME, Id. ( KMVT/KSVT) Early Wednesday morning deputies from Jerome County arrested a man after they were notified a homeowner had a person at gunpoint.

Lt. Dan Kennedy with the Sheriff’s Office said at 4:50 A.M., they were called to 606 BMK Lane. When they arrived they found homeowner John Wiersma detaining a Hispanic male. He told authorities he heard voices near his pickup. Wiersma said he found a person in his vehicle and fired a “warning shot.” The suspect then reportedly came over towards the back door of the residence and attempted to enter.

When deputies arrived, they say a struggle ensued. They arrested 26 year old Manuel O. Madrigal-Orozco of Jerome. He was charged with Attempted Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting and obstructing officers and a warrant for failure to appear in Elmore County.

At this time, authorities do not believe this incident is related to the home invasion on Tuesday.
