Megaload On the Move Again Towards Idaho

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — After a week waiting out a cold snap and storm, the company moving a megaload of oilfield equipment is resuming a trip across Eastern Oregon.

The East Oregonian reports the decision came after 9 p.m. Tuesday to get rolling with the 450-ton rig and shipment. Its route was south from Pendleton on U.S. 395 toward Battle Mountain pass.

The refinery equipment is bound for the tar sands oil development in Canada, via Idaho and Montana. It's expected to take five more nights to get to Idaho. The rig 380 feet long and 22 feet wide is allowed to travel only at night and must pull over at intervals to let traffic by. The convoy includes about 20 people. Environmentalists and Oregon tribal members have objected to the shipment.
