We know a little more today about the Murtaugh man killed in a snowmobile accident over the weekend.  The Cassia County Sheriff’s department says  35 year old Jose Alcala  died Saturday after he crashed into a tree a while snowmobiling in the South Hills.

The sheriff’s  report said Alcala failed to make a turn on the snowmobile trail and crashed into a tree near Father and Son campground in southwest Cassia County.  The accident was reported just before 4 p.m. Saturday.  The report indicated that  Alcala was traveling at about 50 mph, when  his sled started to lean to the left. Alcala hit a tree on his right side, while the snowmobile struck another tree.  Alcala died at the scene after suffering massive internal injuries as well as injuries to his hip and leg.
