ELY, Nev. (AP) — The Robinson Nevada Mining Co. has announced plans to reduce its workforce at the Robinson Mine near Ely by 55 positions before the end of the year. The Ely Times reports (http://bit.ly/10J9H5n ) the reduction stems from a restructuring in the copper mine's operation following an annual review. The Robinson Mine currently employs 640 workers. Robinson Mine Manager Cary Brunson says the company periodically reviews and revises its strategy in order to ensure cost-effective and sustainable operations. He says while the decision to reduce the workforce was difficult, it will allow the company to continue to employ about 600 workers and to contribute to community projects in White Pine County. Robinson Nevada Mining Co. is owned and operated by KGHM International.
