Efforts to build a new airport in Burley have been thwarted for the time being by impassioned landowners concerned over four proposed sites. At a standing room only meeting yesterday the airport site-selection committee voted to back away from the four proposed sites and essentially start over again.

Testimony from county officials and landowners was showing a high degree of opposition.  This isn’t the first time opposition has thwarted the attempt at a new airport.  It’s happened twice before since 1998.  Committee members say they will re-evaluate the site-selection process and begin again.
