The world of Marvel comics is going through some major changes. While Wednesday saw the announcement of a female Thor taking up Mjolnir for a new comic books series, now Captain America, Steve Rogers, has been forced into early retirement. So, who is taking over the reigns? None other than his buddy Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon!

In fact, superhero comics have been introducing animal heroes for years, ranging from stand-alone heroes with unique origin stories to pets who simply share the same powers as their owners.

On Monday night, July 7, Marvel teamed with the folks at IMAX to screen 17 minutes of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' for fans ahead of the film's August 1 release. Directed by James Gunn, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' stars Chris Pratt as the thief-turned-hero Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as assassin Gamora, Dave Bautista as the crazed Drax The Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as the trigger-happy Rocket and Vin Diesel as the tree of a few words Groot, as they band together to stop the villains plans of Thanos and Ronan The Accuser. It's one of Marvel's most ambitious films to date, taking the universe established with The Avengers into outer space, and here's everything we learned from the 17-minute 'Guardians of the Galaxy: An IMAX 3D First Look.'

Ever since the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailer brilliantly used Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" to introduce us to Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot and Rocket, we've been waiting patiently to see what else was included on Peter Quill's "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" (also known as the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' soundtrack). Today, we have confirmation on the track listing and it's pretty amazing all these songs have somehow found their way into a big superhero movie.

The past few 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trailers have done well in teasing Marvel's upcoming space opera with a star-studded cast, humor galore and one catchy tune ("Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede). But now's the time to set aside the comedy and go for some goosebump-inducing, explosive and just plain riveting new footage ... with a few jokes thrown in on the side.

Marvel kicked the week off by releasing two new 'Guardians of the Galaxy' posters through Fandango, featuring Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and Gamora. But the set is now complete, as the last two character sheets are here to highlight the team's fearless leader, Star-Lord, and intergalactic barbarian, Drax The Destroyer.
