COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (KTVB) – The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is investigating a report they got Tuesday of animal abuse involving small goats.

Police said they discovered three small goats on scene, all of which had been stabbed. Officials said one of the goats was already dead and was nearly decapitated.

Police said the owner of the goats, Quintin Forte, was on scene and took custody of the rest of the goats that were still there. Authorities said Forte has a contract with the city to use goats for weed control on some city properties. Police said the goats are the Boer breed.

Authorities said Forte had placed a total of 16 goats at the site around 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Officials said the water well is about four acres and is fenced with a locked gate. Authorities said the suspect, or suspects, would have had to climb the fence to gain access.

Police ask anybody with information on the crime to call the Coeur d'Alene Police Department at 208-769-2320 or e-mail the tip line at policetips@cdaid.org.
