Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Twin Falls Police are continuing their investigation where a homeowner says he was awoke by someone breaking into his home.

Police say on July 17 at 2:43 in the morning officers were sent to the 700 block of Grandview Drive North. While in route, officers were told that the homeowner had discharged his 9mm handgun at one of the two suspects while they were in his home. The victim told police he grabbed the gun when he heard noises from his living room. When he opened his bedroom door he said he saw a suspect standing next to his mother’s bedroom door.

He discharged his gun striking one of the suspects in the lower part of his body. The suspects fled on foot leaving a trail of blood southbound on Grandview Drive North. Officers followed the trail until it ended. The victim described the suspects as possibly being black. One of the suspects wore a bandana over the lower part of his face. Both were wearing white short sleeve shirts and blue pants. Police contacted area medical facilities to be on alert for anyone seeking medical services who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Now they are asking the public for assistance. If you have seen an injured man matching the ethnicity description given by the victim you are asked to contact your local law enforcement agency.

Authorities say the homeowner will not be charged with any crime as he was within his right when he discharged the gun.
