TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- The Twin Falls police chief spoke to the city council and concerned citizen's after rumors and accusations flooded blog sites and social media concerning an alleged sexual assault of a young child. In his statement, Chief Craig Kingsbury attempted to set the record straight on rumors that a 5-year-old girl had been raped by three Syrian refugee boys. According to Kingsbury and the Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs, those statements were false, but did confirm that the children accused were from different counties between the ages of 7 and 13.

Two of the older minors are being detained after charges were filed last week and the case sealed by a judge. Chief Kingsbury told the council and crowd that these types of investigations take time and are handled with the help from partner agencies. See video for the chief of police's full statement:
