Wasden Will Run Again for Idaho’s Top Lawyer

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Attorney General Lawrence Wasden formally announced his bid for a fourth term as the state's top lawyer. Unlike in other state races, Wasden — at least so far — doesn't have an announced rival for the May 20 Republican primary election.

At the press conference yesterday in the Idaho Capitol, Wasden highlighted his office's role in prosecuting more than 130 public corruption cases and helping bolster programs to reduce child sexual abuse.

Additionally, Wasden underscored his role in taking on the federal government over President Barack Obama's health insurance overhaul in 2010, when he joined other states in a lawsuit ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. Wasden said he hoped to continue efforts to ensure Idaho's sovereignty is preserved, its citizens protected and it marketplace free for competition.
