The Twin Falls City Council held a hearing last evening to complete a land transfer that may eventually allow locals and tourists alike to visit, up close and personal, the jump site of Evel Knievel.

The mound of dirt that served as a launch pad is still visible from the north entrance of Twin Falls but it’s been located on private land since 1974 when Kinevel’s unsuccessful rocket jump across the Snake River Canyon put Twin Falls on the worldwide map.  The council hearing, which did not require any vote, allows the paperwork for the swap to be completed. There is still a lot to be done before the site will be available to public access.  A final vote will come later when the city will receive the deed to the land.
