Over the last couple of years, many restaurant chains have been closing locations across the country. They felt the wrath of the pandemic, and even still it is catching up with many businesses, especially the restaurant industry. Another factor affecting these companies has been the rise of minimum wage, especially in California where it went up to $20 earlier this year. This has forced many companies to adjust and close locations, with others filing bankruptcy, and some going out of business altogether. With all the closures nationwide for so many chains, it is surprising to know that one restaurant chain is going the opposite route, and adding new locations in new states.

While many chains are looking to downsize and eliminate locations across the country, Jack in the Box is looking to add 123 new locations nationwide over the near future, and are expanding into new states. Four states are set to receive Jack in the Box soon, with them being Arkansas, Florida, and Idaho's neighbors Montana and Wyoming. Currently, there are 2,200 stores across the country, but surprisingly they are only in 22 states. The new additions will have them occupying over half the country. While this is exciting news for the San Diego-based chain, the expansion doesn't stop there.

While expanding into 4 new states is great news, Jack in the Box will also look into adding 22 restaurants in Mexico, crossing the border for the first time. There are currently no plans for the company to expand to the East Coast or the Midwest. Another restaurant looking to expand though, that could impact Idaho, is Jack in the Box's sibling company, Del Taco is looking to add 138 new restaurants as well. There are currently 8 locations in the Gem State, but could a ninth be on the way shortly?
