Most people agree that the United States is the best country in which to live. Yes, there are issues with the cost of living, politics, and you may not like certain things, but overall, the pride of being an American outweighs the thought of living elsewhere. There are many great places to live in the country. You can live in the mountains, the desert, in the country, on a farm, near the beach, in a city, or isolated in the middle of nowhere. When it comes to living in America, what states are the best to live in, which are the worst, and where does Idaho rank on the list?

Deciding which state is the best to live in is typically an argument based on opinion. Most would choose their home state, while others may choose a place they enjoy visiting, or say their hometown sucks if they don't enjoy it. A list recently came out on WalletHub ranking the best and worst states to live in and ranked them using criteria such as affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Using this criteria it was determined that Massachusetts is the best state to live in, with New Mexico being the worst state to live in. Other states to avoid would be Louisiana, which is the second worst state, and Arkansas, which is the third worst. Where does Idaho fall on the list, though?

According to the list, Idaho is ranked among the best states to live in. It comes only behind Massachusetts and ranks as the second-best state in the entire United States. The Gem State is ranked 11th in affordability, 7th in economy, 21st in education and health, 24th in quality of life, and 4th in safety. Safety is a major concern for many and plays a huge factor in why Idaho is one of the best places to live and raise a family. The Gem State has the second-lowest crime rate of all the states, only being behind New Hampshire. Idaho also has the highest income growth of any state in the country.
