Most residents in Twin Falls can agree that there is a lopsided number of restaurants on the north side of town vs the south side. Not all residents will agree though that it’s a problem.

But, as someone who lives and works on the south side of town, we definitely need more options down here.

Huge News: Taco Bell Has Plans to Build a Second Twin Falls Location

There is currently 1 Taco Bell in Twin Falls. It’s on the north side of town in the Magic Valley Mall parking lot near the Perrine Bridge. The drive-thru is always packed and it isn’t easy to get to. But, since it’s the only Taco Bell in town, you have to wait if ‘Yo Quiero Taco Bell’.

That could, and should, change soon as a second location was recently presented at the Twin Falls Planning and Zoning meeting on August 13th, 2024. If you didn’t attend the meeting, you wouldn’t know that the plan is to build a Taco Bell since the agenda listed it as Action Item C:

Request for a drive-thru with extended retail hours of operation on property
located at 2616 Addison Ave E. c/o Julie Benintendi on behalf of Stan Nicolaysen (PZ24-0076).

There’s no mention of Taco Bell unless you click and download the links on the left side of the Public Portal. The Staff Report, Vicinity Layout, and Presentation Layout don’t mention Taco Bell. You have to get to the Applicant Narrative to see what business wants to open a drive-thru.

Where Does Taco Bell Want to Build Store #2 in Twin Falls?

The P&Z files show that the Taco Bell would be located at the intersection of Carriage Lane and Addison Ave E. The plans presented at the meeting look very thorough and include a site plan and building design pictures.

The Applicant Narrative states that the new Taco Bell would be ‘typical of the national brand.’ The report also covers plans for hours of operation, the size of the drive-thru line, the number of employees, and possible impact on the area.

Some people like the idea of a Taco Bell in that location and others aren’t thrilled with the traffic it would bring to the area. Public comment was also recorded for 5 people at the meeting.

As with the In-N-Out Burger plans for Twin Falls, the drive-thru seems to be an issue and a large portion of the discussion when debating approval of the site locations.
