FINAL UPDATE: The Idaho State Police have released their final update on the YMCA summer camp bus accident near Meridian. The accident happened on August 4th:

At this time, investigating troopers believe the school bus crashed after it veered off the roadway and overcorrected causing it to rollover. No other vehicles were directly involved in this incident.

The driver was a 64-year-old female from Caldwell, Idaho who sustained injuries.  There were 28 occupants onboard the bus and eight of the passengers sustained serious injuries. We will not provide medical updates on these individuals.

Idaho State Police troopers have concluded their investigation, and this case has been forwarded to the Boise County Prosecuting Office for review.

No further updates are expected.

Last week the Idaho State Police responded to a vehicle rollover accident on State Highway 55 in Meridian.

UPDATE: Monday morning the ISP released this information:

Throughout the weekend, troopers continued investigating the cause of Friday's bus crash that resulted in all occupants being transported to local hospitals. Injury updates will not be provided, but nearly all involved children have been released to their families.

Troopers are working with the third-party bus vendor to access pertinent information related to the incident and will determine the timeline and crash dynamics.

"Our thoughts and well wishes remain with the students and their families as they strive to heal. We extend deep gratitude to our dedicated first responder partners who quickly answered the call and provided crucial aid at the scene," said Idaho State Police Lieutenant Colonel Sheldon Kelley.

ORIGINAL STORY: The accident was the rollover of a school bus transporting children in a YMCA summer camp group. The accident happened on Friday afternoon around 3 in the afternoon and the police blog was updated shortly after. The latest info from the Idaho State Police states:

At about 3 p.m. this afternoon (Friday), troopers responded to State Highway 55 near milepost 84 on the report of a school bus rollover crash with about 30 occupants onboard. Arriving troopers located the bus and assessed numerous injured were being treated by emergency medical services. Of the 11 injured, seven were deemed critical and 4 non-critical and all children on the bus were transported by air or ground ambulance to local hospitals in an abundance of caution.

The bus involved was a YMCA summer camp program bus from the Treasure Valley YMCA and was carrying children between 13 and 18 years old. This was one of four buses in the summer camp program. The additional three buses were not involved in the incident.

6 emergency response teams helped with the incident. The cause of the accident isn’t known yet and is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.

Over the weekend, Idaho State Police also responded to an injury accident on Interstate 84 in Ada County. The accident happened Sunday afternoon around 4:08 at mile marker 61:

An 80-year-old man and 77-year-old female passenger from Winston, OR, were driving a 2017 Itasca motor-home towing a 2003 Saturn LW. A 49-year-old man from Riverton, UT was driving a 2008 Honda Civic. The driver of the motor-home was unable to maintain lane and both vehicles went off the left shoulder, where the motor-home rolled into the median.

The 2 occupants of the motorhome were taken by ground ambulance to local hospitals.
