City workers in Twin Falls dealt with a foamy situation in the wastewater earlier this week.
They believe the irregular discharge was due to soap or detergent that got into the wastewater system.
Unusual Wastewater Foam Appears Near Idaho’s Perrine Bridge
The public works department of the City of Twin Falls is investigating the ‘foaming event’ that happened on Sunday around noon.
They believe the foam was caused by ‘a significant discharge of soap or detergent’ that entered the wastewater from a local commercial business. They are unsure of which business though, and are looking for information from the public regarding the incident.
Soap Believed to be the Cause of Foamy Discharge in Twin Falls Wastewater
Disruptions in the wastewater collection and treatment can be costly, as can fixing any damage caused by improper disposal of some products by businesses and individuals.
The city is reminding businesses and residents to report accidental spills of toxic or damaging substances to the Public Works Department. Fats, oils, greases, solids, and solvents should not be disposed of in drains.

The City of Twin Falls is also preparing, and reminding residents to prepare, for the beginning of the pressurized irrigation system season.
When Does the Twin Falls Pressurized Irrigation Season Begin?
In the latest news release for the City of Twin Falls, the city will begin delivering water via the pressurized irrigation system on April 15th.
All subdivisions should have water by May 1st.
